For this Sedona maternity session, I met A and J up at one of my favorite spots in Sedona. They were visiting Sedona on their babymoon, and thought it would be a great time to take some photos.
Sedona is, without a doubt, one of the coolest places in Arizona. The landscape is so unique, and people come from all over the world to see and experience those red rocks. There are tons of gorgeous hiking trails, and there are also fun hotels and unique restaurants to check out.
Sedona is located about an hour and a half north of Phoenix, so it’s just a quick drive up the highway to get there if you are coming from Phoenix. Sedona has come to be known as a sort of artist’s retreat and a place of spiritual healing. It is famous for its vortexes, said to be places around Sedona with increased energy, or as I like to think of them – Good Vibe Spots. (Check out an explanation from Visit Sedona here, if interested to read more about the vortexes).
A few places here do require a little bit of walking/hiking to get out into the landscape, but these two were up for anything!
The weather tends to be slightly cooler in Sedona than in Phoenix, so it can be a nice place to escape to in the summer.
For any hiking trail that you go on, you will get a completely different view with unique landmarks and points of interest. You can’t go wrong here!
The below photos, some of my faves, were taken with an 85 mm prime lens. This is one of my favorite lens choices in Sedona. It really brings the landscape up to the subject. I will also tell you that Sedona is one of those places that is beautiful on a sunny day, but it is almost more beautiful on a cloudy day. It was slightly overcast on this day, and it really makes the red pop. So don’t fear if your scheduled day is looking a bit cloudy!
We had a great time exploring the red rocks while these two were in town. Their Sedona maternity session ended with some epic views and a few quiet moments together.
