When summertime in the desert makes it REALLY hot outside, it’s the perfect time for a sunrise Arizona engagement session! These two booked me for their intimate elopement later in the year, and decided they wanted to add on an engagement session!
Should You Still Have an Engagement Session if You are Eloping?
I often get the question from couples having smaller wedding and elopement ceremonies of whether they really need or want to do an engagement session. Usually something along the lines of, what’s the point if we aren’t going to send out Save the Dates?
A fair question. But I always like to remind couples that you are never going to be able to go back to this brief time in your life when you were engaged. Your photos don’t need to be for anyone else but you. You can and absolutely should celebrate this time without it needing to have a “purpose.”
To me, photo sessions are a little tiny time capsules that you will be able to look back on years from now. Engagement sessions are particularly great because they show a different snapshot of your relationship than what we will see at your wedding. It is also a really great way for us to get to know each other more before your big day.
When in doubt, I tend to suggest having engagement photos taken if you are on the fence about it. You very likely won’t regret taking them, but you may regret not capturing the moment down the line. It doesn’t have to be a big grand production. It’s just a moment for you two to appreciate the space you are in and where you are going.
This sunrise Arizona engagement session was a perfect reflection of these two, and I can’t wait for their elopement later in the year!
