This Scottsdale, Arizona family photo session was full of light and happiness. I first met these three when they were just a family of two! I was fortunate enough to take their maternity photos, and then I got to meet baby boy a few months later.
Although I typically shoot it in the afternoon, I absolutely love photographing sunrise sessions. It is absolutely an underutilized time of day. The lighting is soft, the weather is cooler, the trails are quieter, and in this case, the babies are happier! Little man wasn’t going to be able to stay awake for a late afternoon session, so his mom suggested a sunrise session, which worked out perfectly.
With family sessions, a general mood of flexibility is key. You just sort of have to go with the flow, try a few things, and see what pleases the smaller members of the family.
It was a breath of fresh air to photograph this little family in one of my favorite spots, and completely worth waking up at 4 AM! If you are considering a session with me, keep in mind that sunrise is always a great option, particularly in the summer months!
