Is Phoenix the best place to take gorgeous maternity photos? Am I potentially biased because I live and work there? Yes to both. But in my opinion, the desert is unmatched for some epic landscapes to complement your epic soon-to-be baby. There are so many great locations nearby, and Phoenix and Scottsdale are also great spots to have your babymoon! These two wanted some classic desert landscapes for their sunset Phoenix maternity session.

Location

Just outside of town, this location (Lost Dutchman State Park) is great for its variety, as well as the sunsets. While I don’t necessarily recommend that you plan a visit in the summer, we actually took these photos mid-June, and the weather was just fine. I love this area because there are interesting views in pretty much every direction. It requires a little bit of walking out on the trails for the good scenery, but it’s definitely manageable for my soon-to-be moms. You’re rewarded for your efforts with some epic cliffs and sunset views.

Outfits

I will also mention at this point that your maternity session is your *moment* to go as dramatic as you want to with the outfit or outfits. Mom-to-be sent me a photo of this dress before our session, and my immediate thought was YES. YESSSS. We will be out in some dramatic landscapes, so please feel free to match the drama accordingly. I will never tell you it’s “too much.” It always brings a fun element to the shoot, and really, if not now, when?
